Wind Turbine Blade Tip Power System

The Honeywell Wind Turbine’s Blade Tip Power System (BTPS) replaces the traditional gear box, shaft and generator of current wind turbine technology. HoneyWell WindTronics WT6000HoneyWell WindTronics WT6000The gearless Blade Tip System creates a “free wheeling’’ turbine, generating energy from the blade tips (where the speed lies) rather than through a mechanical center gear. By practically eliminating mechanical resistance and drag, the Wind Turbine creates significant energy (2000 kWh/yr in class 3 Winds)(Average Kwh USA electric rates in 2009 are $.12 which equals $240) operating in a greater range of wind speeds (2-42 mph/3-68 km/h) than traditional wind turbines. The highest output, lowest cost per kWh installed turbine ever made. This first BTPS is called the WT6000.
Traditional turbines rarely start turning before 7.5 mph (12 km/h) and shutdown by 29 mph (47 km/h) to protect their mechanical systems. This BTPS system charges as low as 2 mph winds and the nylon blades furl (roll up) at 45 mph winds.
The Honeywell Wind Turbine’s Power Blade System creates energy at the blade tips, rather than through a central gear and rotor used in most turbine technology. By eliminating the resistance of a central gear and shaft, significant efficiencies are gained in cost and energy output. The Honeywell Wind Turbine is less expensive to own and operate while generating energy across a broader range of wind speeds (wind classes).
The Honeywell/WindTronics Wind Turbine measures just 6 feet (182 cm) in diameter and weighs 170 lbs (77kg) providing 18 % of an average household’s (DOE) energy needs.
Plans are to retail the WT6000 in late 2009 at ACE Hardware for $4500 which includes smart box and inverter(change to AC voltage). This price does not include any installation kits. As of October 2009 a check of ACE website at http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3800670 says..
"This item will be sold IN-STORE ONLY, so check your local Ace for availability starting January 2010"
